SPEAK IT

When we think of conferencing we often thinks of parent conferences or perhaps even writing conferences.

But, think again.

One on one is the the gold standard best way we know how to teach and reach students.  Yet, opportunities for that are few and far between.  So, when they present themselves, capitalizing on each moment is critical and every word we say matters.  And, just as importantly, what our students say matters. So, how do we build a quality coaching conversation?  I always suggest relying on sentence starters.

In my Teacher Talk for Conferencing handout that you can download here, you will have a page full of ways to start conversations and get kids thinking about their work.

More than anything we want to ignite and inspire the work of our students.  Our words in those critical conversations is one way to make it happen!
