CAN WE WRITE OFF HANDWRITING?

Last week I met with a teacher who brought up the topic of teaching cursive. While it remains part of the curriculum, he expressed his concerns about the time it would take and how that time might better be used. The debate over handwriting rages on. Do we take the time to practice handwriting skills in the classroom, or do we invest that time in typing skills that seem more important now than ever?
